Wellspring Capital Management Group LLC (“Wellspring”), a leading middle market private equity firm, today announced it has committed to being the lead sponsor of Squash Haven’s marquee fundraising event, the Squash Haven Showdown, for the next three years.

Squash Haven empowers New Haven public school students to strive for and maintain school success and physical wellness, and to forge a path through higher education to engaged citizenship. Team members participate in tuition-free year-round academic and athletic programming at Yale. The program has helped its members (1) gain acceptance into prestigious four-year colleges including Brown, Georgetown and Yale among others, (2) receive over $2.1 million annually in renewable financial aid awards and (3) join 20 collegiate squash teams, with 7 captains. 94% of team members would be the first in their families to attend college.

Naishadh Lalwani, Partner of Wellspring Capital, said “Squash Haven’s drive to empower positive youth development and increase educational opportunity overlaps well with Wellspring’s culture of charitable giving. I have been fortunate enough to witness first-hand the impact the program has during my time at Yale and we are proud to be associated with an organization of Squash Haven’s caliber and look forward to strengthening our relationship meaningfully.”

Julie Greenwood, Executive Director of Squash Haven, said: “Our partnership with Wellspring underscores the firm’s commitment to genuinely impact diverse and hardworking student-athletes. We have been impressed with their dedication to our mission and hope to grow this partnership in the years to come.”
